A Fakenham band have had one of their tracks spliced together with scenes of surfing feats by professional teams. California-based surf firm O'Neill has set one of Cutback's songs to fast-paced action on its promotional DVD.

They will be sent to surf shops, clothing stores and customers around the globe. Thousands of DVD copies will be distributed bearing the trio's track, Saves The Day. Worldwide exposure The group are already clocking up radio play in France - but the DVD will give them exposure to a worldwide audience. Cutback, who compare their sound to an early Feeder, are delighted their rock sound fitted in with the high-energy atmosphere the surf giant wanted to create. "Because of the target audience which we try to aim to, we grabbed the opportunity with both hands," said singer and guitarist Chris Sammacicci. "It's just spreading the word and you never know who's going to watch the clip and hear the song," he added. Sports fans The band are doubly pleased their track has been picked because both Chris and drummer Karl Jagger are extreme sports fans.

"Our drummer surfs as regularly as he can off north Norfolk and I go snowboarding although not nearly as often as I'd like," said Chris. The song was selected for the soundtrack after bassist Simon Taylor posted a demo to a media firm in Devon, which liked it and then offered them the chance to feature on the film. Saves The Day has been taken from the band's album, Wasted Youth, which was recorded in 2004. Another of their songs, Time Stole My Sandals, is being played by radio stations across France after it was used on a compilation CD of British and American groups.
