Do one thing

大象传媒 Springwatch Festival

The Springwatch Festival Of Nature 2007 is heading to Norwich with the invitation to 'do one thing' to help wildlife in your area. Take part in the event held in Chapelfield Gardens on Saturday, 16 June, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Do the right thing and help breathe new life into urban wildlife in cities across the UK as part of 大象传媒 Breathing Places.

Norwich is one of 15 nominated Breathing Places cities in the UK.

The city council, Norfolk wildlife groups and the 大象传媒 invite you take part in the project during a Springwatch Festival taking place in Chapelfield Gardens on Saturday, 16 June, 2007.

大象传媒 Radio Norfolk will be at the event throughout the day and Andy Archer will be presenting his weekly gardening show live from the festival.

"We are asking everyone who comes to the Springwatch Festival to听'Do One Thing' for wildlife in Norwich," said Tim Bishop, head of 大象传媒 local and regional programming in the east.

"It could be something as simple as putting up a nest box in their back garden, or as ambitious as helping to create a wildlife garden on a local housing estate or in hospital grounds.

"The more people who take simple actions for wildlife in Norwich the bigger difference we can make together," he added.

By working with Norwich City Council, and local wildlife and conservation groups, it is hoped that 大象传媒 Breathing Places will inspire thousands of people to help transform the city for wildlife and turn Norwich into a Breathing Place.

A year of wild action

A number of targets for the year of wild action. Ideas are eclectic and range from a wildlife roundabout, butterfly gardens and pond dipping, to a green safari, orchard planting and a new bog听garden.

A perfect day

Aside from launching the new Breathing Places City initiative, the Springwatch Festival in Chapelfield Gardens also offers the perfect family day out.

From close-up encounters with wildlife, to trying a range of activities, joining a Springwatch Garden Party or learning how to become a Springwatch Tracker, there's something for everyone.

Gary Standley, from the 大象传媒 Voices community project, will also be presenting awards during the festival to the winners of a green competition organised by the Norfolk Biodiversity Partnership.

The Springwatch Festival event takes place in Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich on Saturday, 16 June, 2007 from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
