Watch the Olympics on the Big Screen

The latest addition to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Big Screen national network has been unveiled in Norwich with sports fans and shoppers enjoying live pictures from the Olympic games in Beijing.

The giant installation - which hangs above the Chapelfield Plain entrance to the shopping centre - will show a range of material made by local students, community groups, charities, amateur filmmakers, festivals and not-for-profit organisations.

The purpose of the screen's unveiling in Norwich is to help reflect the life of the local community, leading up to the 2012 Olympics.

While a host of films and programmes will be aired, the Big Screen is not allowed to host any commercial content or footage which doesn't comply with ´óÏó´«Ã½'s editorial guidelines. Other submissions will be considered on merit.

Community film projects

The initiative is a partnership between Norwich City Council, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and the London Organising Committee For The Olympic Games (LOCOG).

Becky Betts, the Norwich ´óÏó´«Ã½ Big Screen's producer, is keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in broadcasting material on the screen.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for local artists, community groups and projects to showcase their work" she said.

"We'll also have a what's on listing available in the screen's text box to highlight forthcoming local events and activities."

A programme of celebratory activities to mark the event is being put together by Norwich City Council, Active Norfolk and The Forum to take place at Chapelfield, The Forum and Castle Mall.

Coverage of the Beijing Olympics will be shown on the huge screen in the run-up to the handover.
