If Pictures Could Speak...

By Molly Hardingham from, 11, from Hartwell.

Neil was mischievous! He had short spiky hair, which he always dyed a different colour, depending on his mood. Neil hated going out, but for some strange reason his mum had made strict orders for him to go to the art exhibition. They argued for hours on end; mum won. He dozily wandered over to the museum. Annoyingly, Neil was supposed to stay with his group, The Victorians, but he strolled off into a crumbly, rotting room. One picture caught his eye (not for a good reason easy). It was of a little boy, who had been shaded yellowy-brown. Neil laughed at it; he thought it was so bad. A power cut. A sly mischievous voice spoke "leave you are not wanted here, leave".

The light continuously flickered. No-one was there. Was it his imagination? The haunting room made the hairs on the back of his skinny, pale neck stand on end as if he had been electrocuted. His neck, which was incredibly bendy (like a rubber), was SO thin, Neil could fit both his hands around it, so they touched. He shivered! Neil ran out.

A few hours later, lonely Neil was wondering slowly along the cold, hard rubble, on the streets of polluted London. 'SLURP!' Neil carried on walking. 'SLURP!' the irritating noise was getting louder. Neil turned around to find the most peculiar sight. The same boy, from the same painting was standing right in front of him. "Are you following me?" questioned Neil. The boy just stood there. Neil turned around. 'SLURP'. Neil was furious. He turned around. The boy was gone...

A little while later, Neil returned to the gallery. This time, he stayed with his group. They strolled in to 'the room'. A power cut. Neil could feel something tugging on his arm. He was being dragged, quite slowly in fact. Suddenly, the grip was gone. The lights came on. He was not with his group any longer. He was in a frame. "Leave, you are not wanted here, leave!!!". Would he ever get out?
