Seven girls and boys aged twelve and thirteen in year eight at Weston Favell School have taken on the challenge of being 大象传媒 reporters and producing their own news bulletin for the 大象传媒's School Report.听 The project is run annually to give youngsters a taste of what it's like to have a career in journalism.

Their teacher, Elaine York, said "It's been a steep learning curve for them, but one that's been very exciting."听

Weston Favell is one of the schools the Government is looking at turning into an academy. Caroline has chosen this subject for her news report. She has interviewed the Head Teacher who has recently resigned over the issue.

Sarah and Jarone have teamed up to investigate changing technology. They visited the studios at 大象传媒 Radio Northampton to interview the Head of Futurology at BT. Half an hour later they had become experts in nano-technology and learnt about future developments such as self-cleaning worktops and mobile phones that can be used to pay for things instead of a credit or debit card.

Rhiannon and Tabatha have tackled the issue of racism in school. They鈥檝e been looking at whether children are still bullied because of their race or colour.

Sam and Devante have been undercover to find out if youngsters their age are watching movies that are violent and rated 18.听 They've been surprised at the results. Sam has warmed to working as a journalist with buckets of enthusiasm. Devante has already made up his mind that he wants to write for a living.

There was no shortage of hands when their teacher asked them who wanted to present their news bulletin. The youngsters have certainly understood what it's like to face the pressures of compiling news reports and the stress of hurtling towards a deadline!
