As part of Springwatch 2008, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland challenged listeners to turn unloved pieces of land into breathing places for people and nature.

Over one weekend locations across the UK were tackled by special ‘SWAT’ teams.

The teams had one day to transform a piece of land.Ìý The sites which were chosen wereÌý neglected and had potential for aÌýreal transformation.

What happened at Donmouth Local Nature Reserve?

The Ranger Service at Donmouth Local Nature Reserve got involved to help enhance an area of grassland for biodiversity by planting additional local provenance wildflower plug plants.

The area, between the south bank of the River Don and The Esplanade Road, had previously been taken out of regular mowing and planted up with wildflower plugs.Ìý
