The Toasters, Pocket Billiards, S.T.U.N.T.
Last Friday night's ska night at the Black Box featured great music, incredible hairstyles and dancing that Bruce Forsyth would have been proud of. S.T.U.N.T kicked the night off in some style, storming through a set filled with trumpets, saxophones and excellent drumming. Sadly the vocals were lost in an ocean of noise, but that was only a slight downer on a wonderful performance. The band are currently recording their debut album and hopefully we'll see S.T.U.N.T headlining the Black Box in due time- while their faithful fans sang and danced their hearts out unfortunately the majority of the audience entered the Box a while after their set finished.

If S.T.U.N.T got the party started, Pocket Billiards cranked it up a notch. The band combines punk, ska, metal and reggae into one wonderful package. There weren't any problems during this set in regards to vocals- Belfast accents rang out throughout the Box, singing about everything and anything. The highlight of the set was "Big Mistake" - a riproaring song that has hit written all over it, rocking the audience to their very core.

That performance would have been very difficult to top for many bands, but The Toasters are a cut above the rest. The legendary New York band take to the stage to huge applause and they instantly strike a rapport with the crowd- every song had the audience dancing, mixing excellent rhythms with catchy melodies. The band have recorded 9 studio are true veterans of the ska circuit and they know how to get the audience dancing like there's no tomorrow! Finishing the set with the famous "Don't Let The Bastards Grind You Down", the night comes to a wonderful end. This night was a quasi-religious event nearly 30 years in the making: we all wait with bated breath for the Second Coming.
