Edward takes us back to his childhood and a day out on the farm with his father. As he grafted in the turnip fields he heard a noise that immediately grabbed his attention…

Comment: I found this story very interesting. Edward and I must be about the same age and it was strange to see his photos because I have an almost identical set of me and my husband in almost identical settings and wearing similar clothes!!!
Like Edward, I too wonder about the planes and the pilot. Could your researchers not find out some details? Perhaps from the MOD records of the time?
I love the stories. Such memories they recall. Although I have lived in England for many years I still love to hear about Belfast where I grew up.

Comment: Brought back memories of that era to me and like Edward (I was just a year older)I was interested in aeroplanes and it was a fabulous time to have lived as the various different aircraft that were around were the stuff of dreams for an aeroplane enthusiest. Happy days
