Comment: Really enjoyed this story, a lot of similarities to my own life. I beat leukaemia in 1991 at the age of 17, I promised myself I would one day complete a marathon and after completing several half marathons, I finally fulfilled my ambition in 2005. Since then I have been hooked and just completed my 7th in Amsterdam in October. I'm a bit slower than you Tom with a personal best time of 4:41 but am gradually getting quicker and hope to have completed a sub 4:30 by the end of 2009.
