Love Spoke by Emma Akuffo
|
Love spoke, I listened
we walked for hours on end
It spoke eloquently, full of fervour
of its travels far and near
Love spoke a climatic mix of intellect and desire
It had burnt in hearts of kings, melted icy queens
enriched paupers, arrested villains
Love had roamed secretly throughout the earth
It had been charming, moving,
hilarious even, sometimes unseen
It took refuge in many guises, learnt explosive secrets
beheld couples embracing, since time immemorial
At times Love walked alone,
but mostly in company of friends
It treasured and anguished as it witnessed exciting events
left a gush of intensive feeling as it married,
consummated and gave birth
Love howled heartfelt cries as it buried many lives
won lotteries against odds
conquered battles at all cost
Love had borne the extremes of many a dual role
from subtleness of first glances
to storming fury of hurricanes
and every emotion in between
Love spoke I listened, I laughed and I cried
It was such a great honour
to have Love walk by my side.
