Red Blood on a White Flag
by Patrick G Hughes
|
Enter a night of a thousand deceptions
When dreamers wander – dishonest corridors.
They are politicians who linger.
They point a denial finger,
At people caught in the headlights
Of patriotism fame.
Strangers are people who you have once known
Estranged from the path of guidance and truth.
Our enemies are discreet.
They are friends in defeat;
Under strict influences,
Playing a secret game.
Travel into the chaos of a disturbing dawn
With news of premature death infiltrating our indifference.
A young idealistic man:
His soul taken from this land;
Into the arms of a GOD
Who has forgotten his name.
Stories of atrocities we will try to brush aside
Because our comatose opinions deny the ‘Traditional’
debate.
Recruit young men to save
A country from it’s grave.
Teach them who to hate
And where to place the blame.
Walk through the day baptised caution and resentment
When politicians / friends become people you despise.
They either hide from detection
Or canvas for re-election.
Pretending to be different;
Their appearance remains the same.
Flesh and bone draped over the government’s foundation
wall
Will prevent lives existing…
An agreement’s journey has to end
When the dead body becomes a friend:
Created within the headlights;
Destroyed by the flame.
