Paul McBride
Originally from Newtownards, I currently live in Belfast but I began trying to write creatively when I was travelling around Asia and Australia in 2005. I found the scenery and people hugely inspiring.
I would like to get some feedback on my work and hope one day to have the discipline to write a travel book.

Peel Back The Sun by Paul McBride
|
Peel back the sun to see what's inside
How many million men have died?
Shattered hopes lay side by side
No way to stop a rising red tide.
Through the pain I hear my name
But it's all to lose and nothing to gain
I blink and stare into the light
And know that this is not a game.
To take a step on bloody ground
Is to make a loud, unwanted sound
So I'll lie right here and watch the sky
Circling crows and sun up high.
Peel back the sun - see what's inside
Arctic sheets and fields of ice
Floating dust on the planets crust
Spitting guns on every side.
My head is heavy, my guts run red
It won't be long till I am dead
As I think of things I ought to say
I'll watch this space and slip away.
