Susan Farrell
I live in Rostrevor and have been writing since September 2005. I鈥檓 not quite sure why I started writing but have produced a lot of poems since then. Mostly these are about my environment here in the Mourne Mountains and my feelings as a woman, social observer and an inhabitant on planet earth. I am on my third career, none of them related to writing, have two grown up children and six hens.

The Crows' Wedding
by Susan Farrell
|
Dancing on the roof at dawn
woke the house.
We were used to the hop hopping, and scrapping
scraping and scratching
of moss in the early hours.
Thunderous landings
and flappings of black wings,
reconnaissance for bugs or what everlived on the roof.
This was different,
this furious syncopation.
The announcement the evening before.
An invitation stick down the chimney,
to the crows' wedding,
the first of March.
