Two weeks he鈥檚 been away
Where did the little sailor go?
Alas, he will not say.

Did he meet his friend, big Lily?
Was she eating fish and chips?
Was she waiting at the quayside?
Tomato sauce smeared on her lips.
听
Did they talk about the old times?
Did she call him her wee dote?
Did she say, 鈥淩emember Derry?鈥
Did she open up her coat?
听
Did the sailor go back to the past?
A rainy night in Derry town
A consensual, monetary, transaction
And he got change from a pound.
听
Did big Lily, ask the sailor
Why he slipped off in the dawn?
Leaving Lily in a quandary
-Has the little sailor gone?
听
Did the little sailor hold her hand?
And gaze into her eyes?
Was he smitten by her beauty?
Was he frightened by her size?
听
Did the little sailor shed a tear?
When he thought back to his youth
Was he captivated by her smile?
Though she only had one tooth?
听
Did he take big Lily to a pub?
Did he fill her full of booze?
Did he gaze into her blood shot eyes?
Did he show her his tattoos?
听
Did he take her up an entry?
And slip off before the dawn
Did big Lily cry out once again?
Has the little sailor gone?
