Paddy and I were courting
Six months or maybe more
He said he truly loved me
I loved him more and more
听
Then one day as I rang him
He stuttered and apologised
Whispering the name "Susie"
I hung up with tears in my eyes
听
As my name it was not Susie
Who could this woman be?
I tried to ring him just once more
"I can't talk "said Paddy to me
听
Now my temper was really flowing
In a rage I got into my car
I travelled right to Paddy's house
Half an hour it wasn't that far
听
Was he holding her in his loving arms
kissing her the way he kissed me
Was he looking into her beautiful eyes
This is all I could see
听
Storming up his garden path
I thumped the door real loud
Curtains had been closed so tight
I yelled and screamed aloud
听
He opened the bedroom window
I could see his red guilty face
He was certainly hiding her somewhere
But couldn't see with the window lace
听
His expression was a sheer panic
Sweat dripping from his brow
I tried to see behind him
But I just didn't know how
听
Sneaking in through the back door
Hearing him whisper sweet talk
I trampled over chairs and tables
Bumping into everything as I walked
听
The whole house was out of order
Maybe they had an enormous row
A brush shaft lay on the carpet
I want to know what's going on right now!
听
Bracing myself for his bedroom
I heard him panting and whispering low
Kicking the door so it opened wide
I bruised and cut my big toe
听
There right on top of the bed
Was the last thing I did expect
Paddy was sitting right next to her
She gave him a little peck
听
Come on now wee Susie
Och! now where's my wee bird
A dopey arrogant budgie
Loving every word!
