Iron and Ironing Board

He鈥檚 an ironing board with an iron on his back
She rests equidistant on his foam-cushioned plank
His asbestos cover has turned to brown
since she smoothed him over and rubbed him down
She鈥檚 new from the shop 鈥� he鈥檚 wobbly and old 鈥�
held together with bolts and screws 鈥�
crosses his legs in domestic bliss 鈥�
she asks 鈥淒o you want hot, medium or cold?鈥�

There鈥檚 a pressing need for clothes that are clean
Yes, only creased jeans can come between
She lets off steam and blows a fuse
Then seals their relationship with a
singed starched kiss

but the ironing board 鈥�
he鈥檚 glad he鈥檚 made a lasting alliance
with his tender loving electrical appliance.
