Mid-Summer Meadow
By Geraldine Mc Mullan Doherty

Mid summer twas a tender love
As I gazed upon thy face
Sun reflected golden locks
Free falling on white lace

Clouds non dark bright blue sky
Shone on thy sweetheart fair
Sweet lips red the deepest rose
Thy mouth enticed me there

Tears fell from eyes saddened stream
As words spoke a last goodbye
I’ll never forget thy tender love
Till death brings me to thy

Oft’ I sit where once love met
In mead where heart did rise
Trick of light your face is there
Love captured in thine eyes

Summer warmth still yet bestows
Broken heart yearns long for thee
Beneath a harvest sun ray sky
Leif for death to set me free.
