Realisation!

First there was CIVILISATION then came COLONISATION
Then along came NATIONALISATION also DECIMALISATION
At present all the talk is of GLOBALISATION
So is the next latest thing to be EUROISATION
It seems to me that it would make much more sense
Just to go back to the POUNDS, SHILLINGS, and PENCE
And forget the EURO and DECIMALISATION
All of these things seem to divide the nation
Also I have this hate for the CENTIGRADE
I've always preferred the FAHRENHEIT instead
In CAPACITY I like PINTS instead of these LITRES
Also in LENGHTS, INCHES and YARDS are MILES better than METRES
In weight I know that I'm not on my own
When extolling the virtues of the OUNCE, POUND and STONE
And I don't particularly give a damn
Regarding all this talk about the GRAM
As for DESTINY and 1 MILLIGRAM per CUBIC DECIMETER
Or this 1 TONNE per CUBIC METER
Imagine our children in schools this being told
Should we not return to the times tables of old
In POWER they us this term called KILOWATT
Now don't dare ask me what the hell that is
As for MASS they talk about a MILLIGRAM
And to tell you the truth you're as wise as I am
In VELOCITY or SPEED forget the MILES per hour
And that's another thing that's went quite sour
Now it's KILOMETERS to register your speed
It's all a bloody fine mess indeed
Regarding AREA they're confusing me there
Calling it whatever it is, like DEKARE and HECTARE
I'd much prefer it if they brought it back
To the good old BUSHEL and the PECK
It's only a matter of time before ENGLISH and
FRENCH will go
IRISH, SPANISH, GERMAN all FOREIGN LANGUAGES you know
Also I suppose we all will have to learn LATIN
And the PRODS and the MICKS will blame it on PATTON
