Big Billy
By Gerry Curran
听
Rosina Berry owned this big goat
The biggest that I'd ever seen
With horns more that three feet long
My goodness he looked so mean.
He strutted about Carcullion Heights
As if he hadn't a care
I'm the boss he seemed to think,
Challenge me if you dare
听
You knew Big Billy was coming
His smell was on the breeze
The boys and girls went running
To climb the nearest trees
听
The villagers recieved the warning
Look out, he's on his way
They all began to panic
He'll wreck the town today
Big Joe Brannigan in Lowry's Bar
Was enjoying a bottle of stout.
Ah, don't worry about Big Billy -
I'll explain what takes him about
听
Big Billy, says he, has a problem
It comes this time of year,
The 'ould fool' falls in love
With every nanny, who ventures near
听
Then suddenly they all leave him
And Big Billy is feeling down,
Today he's looking for, a partner,
He thinks, there's one in town.
听
Big Billy searched the town by day
At night, he rested his feet.
He bleated out his love calls,
However, no lady friend did he meet
听
He returned home disappointed
Quite confused about his love-life.
Maybe, someday one of those nannies-
Will dally...and be his loving wife.
