Bed Of Stone

I dreamt I slept on a bed of stone
And the King laughed down from his jeweled throne
A young girl danced around flames of fire
Her body moving with a strange desire
A thousand voices filled an empty room
And the ladies spoke amid the sweet perfume
Outside the horses became restless and scared
And no one noticed as darkness crept up the stairs
I crossed a river and it was flowing with blood
And I hitched a ride on the wings of a dove
Nobody laughed and nobody cried
All stood in wonder and watched the world subside
A bolt of lightning struck the castle wall
And the King cursed in anger as his crown did fall
The servants laughed at the piteous sight
And bid farewell and with the Queen took flight
Let's raise a glass
And drink a toast
To those poor souls who need it most
Who each day by a twist of fate
Sleep on a bed of stone
