How long you surfing?
7 years

3 sentences that describe you/what
you do:
Absolutely filthy rich. Amazingly talented surfer, Groundbreaking-ly
good looking...i could go on!
听
Where/Why did you start surfing?
Grew up in Sligo but never surfed much, my mates did, with all
the pocket money saved up for their equipment which was hard got.
Was too young to drive and this is in the late 80's anyway, no
one would lend you anything ha haaa! When I went to college in
Plymouth, Devon (UK) I got hooked and when I returned home borrowed
my brothers BIC and the rest is history!

Any surfing honours, comp wins
etc?
None - surf for the love/buzz of it.

Your fave board: quiver me timbers?
I'm very tall (6'4") so I got a lovely Fat Boy Flyer (6'7")
that gives me great stability and turns like a short board. Great
for anyone making the cross-over from a longboard that wants to
cut-it-up a lot more! Other board is a 7'4" Mini-Mal which
is great for smaller waves and fooling about. The bodyboard comes
out when the swell is huge, total thrill-seeking!

Most surf friendly pubs / gigs
/ eateries:
The Strand Bar in Strandhill, great Guinness, sitting outside
and meeting people.

"Surfing is getting more popular
in Ireland for sure". Discuss: Surfing
is getting more popular, some people love to moan about it, curse
the endless streams of cars coming from Dublin, laugh at their
Dublin ways and bicker about how it never used to be this crowded.
I don't begrudge the growing popularity of the sport in Ireland,
however more crowded it may be it will never be as CROWDED as
the breaks in Devon/Cronwall. There is plenty for everyone in
Ireland still.
As a sport it is fantastic, such a buzz, with a natural high that
keeps you coming back for more. If I had the money/funding I would
love to organise a bus for youngsters in my area with deprived
backgrounds to turn them onto the buzz of surfing, much more empowering
than the buzz of street drugs and the typical trend of over-indulgence
you see everywhere these days. I wish the government would take
a more pro-active approach to youth welfare, if even on a small
scale I think it would make a difference...just a thought.

Top Surf Video:
Billabong Odyessey -The Battle for The Biggest Wave Ever Surfed
Amazing cinematic documentary, footage that would blow your mind.
If National Geographic made surf movies this would be it! Would
love to see this on a huge screen/IMAX cinema!

Best thing about surfing:
Before surfing I never appreciated as much just what a great place
Sligo is for surfing. Since I began surfing I dont moan about
the weather like i used too, after all... behind every cloud is
a brooding low pressure and barrels with a silver lining!

Dream surf trip:
Bali, never been there. Would love to go...
