Have you questions about your World War 1 ancestors or stories to share?

The 大象传媒 along with the Western Education and Library Board will hold a special event this week in Derry to allow you to discover, share and remember your family connections with World War One.
听
It's your chance to find out the answers to questions about your loved one, to share your story with others, and to have your ancestor remembered.
听
As part of the 大象传媒鈥檚 season of programming and events marking the ninetieth anniversary of the WW1 armistice, the 大象传媒 is hosting a and visitors are invited to bring along any family memorabilia they have from the Great War including photos, letters, medals or diaries.
听
Historians and volunteers will be on hand to advise and assist the uploading of these to the Wall of Remembrance.
听
The event takes place at Waterside Library 23 Glendermott Road
Derry,
BT47 6BG, on Friday, 28 November, at 10.30am.
听
Local historian, Trevor Temple will be on hand to answer questions and help with research. There will also be representatives from the 大象传媒, and the Western Education and Library Board.

EVENT AT THE SOMME HERITAGE CENTRE
听
On Saturday 8th November 大象传媒 Learning hosted a fun, free, family event to commemorate those who lost their lives in World War One at The Somme Heritage Centre, 233, Bangor Road Newtownards,听 BT23 7PH
听
During the day, the venue offered a range of family friendly activities as well as displaying authentic WW1 costumes, music and poetry.听 There was a WW1 exhibition jointly displayed by the War Memorial and the Somme Heritage Centre showing diary extracts and artefacts from the First World War. Authentic WW1 uniforms were available to try on and there was an opportunity to taste food samples from war time recipes, and enjoy the music of the era.

Historical experts were on hand to allow the public to find out more about the Great War and help them research their own WW1 family history

大象传媒 Learning Executive Louise Wordsworth said: 鈥淲e want to help people re-engage with the act of remembrance on a personal level by encouraging them to share their family stories of the Great War and learn about what happened to the soldiers that came from their local areas.
听
"I think it鈥檚 true to say that we are all somehow connected to the events of 1914-1918 and this is a real chance for people to find out how their own families were affected. Remembrance is a national but also personal act and we hope that these local events will offer people the chance to unite in the memories of their loved one as well as giving visitors the opportunity to see what life would have been like for those living and fighting in the Great War.鈥

1918-2008: Ninety Years of Remembrance is a 大象传媒 campaign to mark the 90th anniversary of Armistice. Events are being held across the country with the aim of unifying and personalising the act of remembrance and bringing World War One vividly alive in the present day.
