The Friends are having a work party on the site with Ron, Marie, Alison and Paul helping to transplant brambles. The group have established log piles on the site and having held them down, in case of flooding, with stakes and wire are now making them more attractive as a habitat by planting brambles over them. | "American tourists keen to sample the English countryside thanked us for our efforts!" | |
The site is exceedingly damp after recent rain and the pond overflowing, so walking the site requires Wellington boots for comfort. 听However, the sunshine has brought out lots of people, with dog-walkers and cyclists making use of the park. We even met a group of American tourists keen to sample the English countryside who thanked us for our efforts! The meadows have been managed since 1991 and Mick, Judi and Ron have all been involved since the outset. Paul, Alison and Mari are younger, newer recruits who are more than welcome. Mick |
