Looking for Love 5

By a lonely damsel
At last, our mystery love blogger has received a phone call, which means a match has been found! But does the suiter suit? And has someone else appeared on the horizon anyway? Read the latest salacious instalment to find out...

As I picked up the phone to call my new best friend, Lesley, I was nervous but a little excited. ÌýIn case you need reminding, she runs an Introduction Agency.Ìý After years of trying to find lurv the second time round, I decided to take the plunge.Ìý How could I miss her call?ÌýÌýI dialled the numbers, thinking about what was going to be at the other end of the phone call. A date – that’s what!Ìý A guy called Steve who she believed would be a ‘good match’.Ìý

To be honest with you I’m beginning to feel like an alien from outer space.Ìý I’m convinced that my tick list is so long now that I won’t ever find ‘the one’’.Ìý If ‘the one’ even exists.Ìý And I don’t really have a tick list.Ìý I seem to have been put on this earth to deal with my friends’ relationship problems.Ìý Perhaps helping them has made me realise that singledom isn’t that bad.Ìý And then there are all those things that men do – bodily functions and all that.Ìý I know women do too but sometimes flapping the duvet is something I don’t miss anymore.ÌýÌý

"Don’t get me wrong and I’m not fat, but equally I’m not Twiggy"

I must be honest, I’ve had lots of practice with flirting.Ìý There’s one guy in particular who’s driving me mad.Ìý You know the kind that sends you texts, usually when out on a night out with the lads.Ìý Which makes me wonder if I’ve become the entertainment?Ìý Let’s call him Tim.Ìý I see him in a bar I visit regularly, not that I have a drink problem; I just like this place where I’ve made lots of friends and have a laugh.Ìý There’s an attraction which I can’t explain.Ìý It has alarm bells all over it and he’s younger than me.

Should I, if given the chance, date a younger man?Ìý I turned the tables by saying he should have taken me out to dinner.Ìý Mistake number one; never suggest what he should be doing with you.Ìý I’ve discovered that men like to be in the driving seat, which I find difficult.Ìý Some of my mature friends say go for it, my younger ones say ‘no way girl, let him do the running’.Ìý Which should it be?Ìý Are there any rules?Ìý All I know is that I fancy that man big time and something is going to happen.Ìý Call it my gut instinct.Ìý

Then there’s Ben.Ìý Rich, common interests, known him for a long time but just doesn’t light my fire.ÌýBut I do feel at ease with him, so this is safe.Ìý Should I play safe?Ìý Now all my friends says we should get it together.Ìý What is holding me back?Ìý Perhaps I know too much about his past and I’m definitely not his type.Ìý Or am I?Ìý He’s looking for that perfect figured girl and I’m certainly not that.Ìý Don’t get me wrong and I’m not fat, but equally I’m not Twiggy.Ìý Not as old as her, not that I have a problem with her age.Ìý Still got a bit to go until I get there.

And Steve, my date.Ìý What about him?Ìý I hear you cry.Ìý Well I never got to see him.Ìý I was very ill.Ìý How unlucky was that or should I see that as a sign? The good news is that he is still interested.Ìý I have no idea what he looks like; he doesn’t know what I look like.Ìý Will it be love at first sight or sorry mate you’re not for me?Ìý My motto in life is ‘what’s the worst that can happen?’Ìý I don’t know but I have a feeling that I’m about to find out!
