Harrogate and District Junior league, 14.01.07 Following last week's league confrontation between Knaresborough Celtic under 12s and Beckwithshaw Bulls under 12s the pair met again on Sunday, this time in the Semi Final of the local Cup competition. The victory for Celtic last week kept them firmly at the top of the table league table. Seeking revenge Beckwithshaw started with renewed vigour and a changed formation.听 The first 10 minutes brought stalemate as play was mainly in听 the centre of the park.听 As the wind started to blow the game opened up, Celtic started to use the wings and make some piercing runs, Jonny T coming close to scoring on several occasions for Celtic, Beckwithshaw withstood the attacks, broke free and pushed into the Celtic half but with no result. The match ebbed and flowed and finally a goalmouth scramble and a badly bobbling ball scraped past the fingertips of Travis听the Celtic goalie for Beckwithshaw to take the lead. 1/2 time came soon after and anticipation in the crowd during the break was rising. Straight from the whistle Celtic pushed forward -听 pressure brought corner after corner听 but with no result. Beckwithshaw, pegged back, continued to challenge and closed ranks on the Celtic attack. At last a glimmer of hope for the Celtic fans - a free kick awarded on the edge of the box. Up stepped Edward - the scourge of Beckwithshaw听 with last weeks opening goal from the same spot. Great shot again but this time with a bigger and more dominant keeper - Beckwithshaw kept the ball out.听 As the minutes flew by and tensions rose to earn a place in the final Beckwithshaw held on and secured a fair victory over the league leaders.
