Get a feel for the countryside

Countryside Live takes place this weekend in Harrogate. 大象传媒 Radio York will be bringing listeners a flavour of the event with James Watt on Saturday and Jeremy Buxton's Sunday show.

Countryside Live is a two day event at Harrogate's Great Yorkshire Showground celebrating rural life and living. It takes place this weekend on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October.

大象传媒 Radio York is the official radio station for the show and will be broadcasting live on both days. James Watt will be presenting his Saturday morning show between 10am and 12.30pm. Then, on Sunday, Jeremy Buxton's show will feature live reports from gardening expert, Nigel Harrison, who will be at the event to talk to visitors about tree planting and to answer their horticultural queries.

And that's not all - Radio York's Action Desk producer, Kirsty-Lou Watson and her team will be offering advice on everything from low energy light bulbs to tree planting. People visiting Radio York's stand at the event will also be able to try their hand at making bird feeders to mark the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' official "Feed the Birds" day.

Countryside Live will feature a Cookery Theatre, a Fashion Show and Knaresborough Horticultural Society Fruit, Vegetable and Flower Show plus the Royal Smithfield Club National Festival of Meat.

There are also stalls from a wide variety of exhibitors plus plenty of children's activities in the Education Activity Zone with hands-on bread-making, crafts and a climbing wall.听

"The Show will retain its agricultural theme."

Show Director Bill Cowling

Even though there are no cattle or sheep at this year's event due to animal movement restrictions, Show Director Bill Cowling says 鈥淭he Show will retain its agricultural theme 鈥 there are pigeons and poultry, horticultural displays, the Yorkshire Woodfair and a Honey competition鈥.

Dog lovers aren't left out either, as there will be a series of demonstrations of Dog Agility brought to you by the Harrogate Agility Training Society. You will be able to watch dogs taking part in agility courses and see demonstrations too.听

And, as 90% of the show is being held indoors even if the weather is wet there is no danger of听 a washout! If you can't get along to the show in person then make sure you listen to 大象传媒 Radio York for a real flavour of the event.
