We want YOUR questions which we'll put to the panel and audience at a special debate taking place in the city to discuss its future as a visitor destination. On Friday 9th May, 大象传媒 Radio York鈥檚 Elly Fiorentini is hosting a debate on the future of tourism in York. ![]() York Minster The event has been organised by Visit York, the newly formed organisation which has the job of both marketing and promoting the city. Attending will be hoteliers, local business people and other organisations connected with the tourism trade. Visitors to the city have always played an important role in contributing to the local economy. York, as we well know, is recognised around the world as a major tourist destination. In 2007 alone, York received two prestigious accolades: European City of the Year and Best City in the Telegraph Travel Awards. So if York is so popular, why are we holding the event? The answer is we need to make the city future proof. ![]() The York Wheel and NRM Are we putting enough effort in developing and improving attractions? Can more be done to attract people who live in North Yorkshire? Is enough being done to market the city nationally and internationally? Is the necessary infrastructure in place to support any future expansion plans? These are some of the questions which will be addressed.
