To continue the party, the station's big red bus visited 25 streets in 25 weeks in North Yorkshire. Find out what happened as we toured North Yorkshire... From Selby to Harrogate and Scarborough to Tadcaster, every Friday, for 25 weeks, 大象传媒 Radio York's big red bus arrived in a street for a live show about the people who call it home. Every week, one kind resident opened the door of their home to host a coffee morning for everyone. As 大象传媒 Radio York was celebrating their 25th birthday there had to be cake too! When the bus visited Grimbald Road in Knaresborough, Richard and Rachel Hall put the kettle on. Richard was a former Mayor of Knaresborough and Rachel was a nurse. At West Garth in Scarborough, coffee and cakes were served to the sound of the Opus One jazz band. Host, Tony O'Connor roped in the local 'trolley-dollies' - his neighbours - to help! Did Oliver Cromwell spend a penny here? As always, we've uncovered some fascinating people and stories. Peter Barnwell lives on Crab Lane in Harrogate and it's said that Oliver Cromwell 'relieved' himself in the garden after having escaped from nearby Ripley Castle. In Scarborough, West Garth resident, Nigel Poor, owns a full-size 1968 fire engine, which often stars in TV's 'The Royal'. On Calf Close in Haxby, Brenda and Roy's spectacular garden boasted a huge fish pond, a plethora of plastic statues and - a red telephone kiosk! Hector, the cocker spaniel The animal residents of the streets featured too. There was the huge cat who lived on Whitcliffe Avenue in Ripon, it wisely evaded all Dougie's attempts to catch it! Basil the Beagle kept Rossett Drive in Harrogate entertained - he was rather partial to venison! Hector, the four month old cocker spaniel puppy provided the 'aaah isn't he cute' factor on Grimbald Road in Knaresborough. Dougie Weake was up to his usual tricks! He's pulled pints, danced, cleaned bathrooms, conducted a brass band, had his hair cut and made a Christmas wreath. All never quite going to plan! Only Men Aloud Friday 14th November was a special day as it was Children in Need.听In New Earswick, professional dancers, Joel and Sarah Chapman taught everyone, including Pudsey, to Cha Cha Cha! But, the highlight so far has to be when four members of Only Men Aloud, winners of 大象传媒 TV's 'Last Choir Standing' serenaded the very surprised residents of Langley Close in Malton! On Friday 16th January 2009 the 大象传媒 Radio York big red bus visited RAF Linton-on-Ouse for the final 25 streets in 25 weeks. Russell Walker had an exclusive look behind the scenes of an RAF base and he fulfilled a life-long ambition when he had a go in the flight simulator. 25 streets in 25 weeks - 大象传媒 Radio York has well and truly got North Yorkshire covered! last updated: 12/03/2009 at 16:58 SEE ALSOYou are in: North Yorkshire > 大象传媒 Radio York > 大象传媒 Radio York Features > 25 streets in 25 weeks |
