In the wake of the closure of a number of big name local brewers a growing number of micro-breweries have been operating across the county. One such company has been The Full Mash Brewery in Stapleford, which produces more than two thousand pints a week from a terraced house. Their ale has been so successful that owners Karl and Sharon Waring are now looking to go big: "Hopefully we'll be able to get purpose built premises. Something we can really get our teeth into and hopefully employ other people to work with us."
Help playing audio/video To startWhat started off as a fun hobby turned into a full-time living for the Nottinghamshire couple. Before long they had a licence from Customs and Excise and their first brew went on sale in their local. Now the brewery has expanded and totally taken over their home, taking up almost every nook and cranny. Home sweet homeTheir utility room is now non-existent and their dinning room has become home to a tonne of malt. However, Sharon still feels there is just about enough room for everyday life to go on: Brewing beer at Full Mash "We've got enough room - just about enough room". It may be every man's dream job, but Sharon also seems pretty happy with the arrangements and has slowly come to except the changes: "I think it's because it did happen gradually, it wasn't something that was just thrown at me overnight... it's almost like I've not noticed it there."
Help playing audio/video Something spookyWith ales like ESP, Ouija and the award winning S茅ance, Full Mash's beers are themed to the occult. It's a decision that Karl says has led to a number of comic responses from punters: "People have told us about the Ouija, that, "I ordered a pint of Ouija and it keeps moving about on the table". "One of our beers is called Spiritualist; someone has said, "Is it dark, is it light?
