Film to boost Robin Hood county

Hollywood's latest version of the Robin Hood story is expected to bring a massive cash boost to Nottinghamshire.

Visit England says the new feature starring Russell Crowe will attract visitors from across the globe.

Mike Balcon, tourism leader at Experience Notts, hopes the film will result in many more visitors from America travelling to the county.

"We're looking for the legacy of this film. It's going to last a number of years we hope," Mr Balcon told the 大象传媒.

Robin Hood is set for release in May 2010.

Oscar-winning actors Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett star as Robin Hood and Maid Marian in the film which is said to have a $130m (拢91m) budget.

Filming commenced in April 2009 and is being shot at several locations in England and Wales, including Pembrokeshire National Park and Shepperton, Surrey, but not in Robin Hood County itself.

Fellow Australian Cate Blanchett will star opposite Russell Crowe
Mike Balcon said he is not too concerned by the lack of film locations in Nottinghamshire.

"The research we've done shows that visitors are more likely to visit the locations portrayed in the film rather than those that are actually used for the film itself," he said.

"Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, is obviously key to the Robin Hood film so therefore the impact is more likely to be in Nottinghamshire than where they did actually shoot the film in Shepperton, Surrey."

The tourism leader says Experience Nottinghamshire has been working hard to make sure the county gets maximum benefit out of the film.

"We've been negotiating with Universal Studios. We're hoping to get an exhibition of props from the film, we'll be involved in an international marketing campaign with Visit Britain and we're hoping also to get a pre-release screening here in Nottingham'" he said.
