My Meadows - Tina Redgate
I have lived in The Meadows for 20 years; I have 2 children and have worked in the Bakery for 4 years now.
It's pleasant to work here and The Meadows means an awful lot to me because the community all stick together. For example, if anybody dies everybody comes together and helps one another.
I have lots of friends here but a lot of things have changed since I first lived here.

At night time some of the pubs shut early and people don鈥檛 come out like they used to. The Poet鈥檚 used to close at 8 at night- I鈥檓 not sure if it still does.
The Police, especially the young ones, seem to have an attitude and intimidate the groups of youths who hang around because there is nothing else for them to do.
My son is 17 and of mixed race and if he sees the police he has to run because of his name.
The kids need somewhere to go: more Youth Centres. They do have The Meadow鈥檚 Boys Youth Club but I think they need more. There鈥檚 absolutely nothing for them to do here in the evening, that鈥檚 why they鈥檙e all out on the streets.
They usually go and play football in the precinct. My son plays football for the local under 18s team, they haven鈥檛 lost a match this season but we can鈥檛 get any scouts from anywhere to come down and watch them.
People will not enter The Meadows, and I don鈥檛 know why because there 鈥榮 nothing wrong with it.
The Meadows has a bad reputation through the media and the police. There are certain areas where I would not go; the Bosworth side of The Meadows is terrible.
