Miss Dring:
a footballers' wife
|
|
Micaiah Dring,
Nottingham's former Maid Marion, has landed a major TV role but still
feels attached to her home county.
Micaiah popped in to 大象传媒 Nottingham to tell us more about her
(short) career as an actress.
Micaiah landed her first TV role at the age of 15.
She got her first break when she entered a competition on a kid's
Saturday morning TV show to win a part in the children's drama series
'The Ward'.
Micaiah didn't win the part but impressed enough to be called
back for further auditions and landed the role Lisa, appearing in
11 episodes.
She went on to study drama at Clarendon College and joined Carlton
Junior Television Workshop at the age of 17.
"It
was one of the best jobs I have ever had... There was plenty
of talking, dancing and the chance to chat to loads of people." |

Through the workshop
she found work on such productions as 'Peak Practice' but has also
taken on less glamorous roles.
One of
her previous jobs was working for The Tales of Robin Hood in Nottingham.
When she first started she found herself dressed as a wench, serving
food at medieval banquets. However, she was quickly promoted to Maid
Marion - a character far removed from her latest role.
Micaiah, who is now 19 years old, finds herself playing Marie
in Footballers Wives.
"There's
a bit of flesh on show but nothing that would upset my mum." |
Micaiah
on her new role |
This is her first
major adult role on national TV but says
her audition for Footballers Wives was really easy.
She just had to read a script and that was it.
The producers
were looking for someone from the Bolton area but because she had
a Northern accent that was good enough for them.
She loves
her character although she had to check with her mum before she took
the part: "There's a bit of flesh on show but nothing that would
upset my mum."
"I'm
more of a rugby girl... big blokes in mud - that's what you
want!" |
Micaiah
on football |
At the moment she's
still waiting to find out if a second series of Footballers Wives
will be commissioned. It all depends on the audience figures.
Currently Micaiah is rehearsing a play with the Carlton Junior Workshop
which will take to the stage in March.
We'll be watching her career closely - expect her to graduate to our
Nottinghamshire celebrities
pages very shortly. |
