On the 13th May, myself and collaborator Amy Stansell will begin a walk around the county perimeter of Nottinghamshire.

The walk is approximately 150 miles and is expected to take about 10 days to complete.

We're starting at the site of 'Three Shire Oaks' the meeting point of Notts, Leics and Lincs.

We will be walking in an anticlockwise direction along the border until we reach Redhill Tunnels near Thrumpton which marks the place where the three counties Notts, Derbs and Leics meet.

The walk has been devised through an ongoing interest with the notion of the Border.

I have been exploring cartography and its geographical, political, and social affects.

Borders create divisions between us all, and whether we like it or not these divisions affect our lives and restrict our movements.

I am translating these ideas through
the local borders of Nottinghamshire.

One exciting element to this work is the not knowing what will happen or what we might discover along the way.

Everyday between 1600-1700 hours there will be the opportunity to follow our progress through John Holmes' afternoon program on 大象传媒 Radio Nottingham, giving people from the local Nottinghamshire community a chance to get involved by telling tales and stories concerning the places we'll be walking in.

The walk will become part of the Nottingham Trent University Contemporary Arts/Performance and Live Art Degree Show, 12th -23rd May 2003.
