Thame is
a small market town to the East of the county. There has been a market
in Thame every Tuesday since 1230 and Thame holds an annual one day agricultural
show every Autumn which is one of the largest in the county.
Historically
the town's main industry has been agriculture but since the start of the
19th century it has expanded exponentially and today's 10,000 + population
are employed in a wide range of professions.
Many work
in London as the Haddenham and Thame Parkway railway station just over
the Buckinghamshire boarder is a great commuter route into the capital.
The building
pictured in the middle of Upper High Street was built in the early part
of the 19th centaury by the Countess of Huntingdon Chapel. It is the only
one of its kind in existence and is now home to the Citizens Advice Bureaux
and the Tourist Information Centre.
