大象传媒 Newsnight and 大象传媒 World News America have triumphed at the 32nd Annual News and Documentary Emmy 庐 Awards with a unique insight into North Korea by 大象传媒 correspondent Sue Lloyd-Roberts. The Emmys were presented by the National Academy of Television arts and sciences in New York last night, Monday 26 September 2011.

Inside the North Korean Bubble commissioned by 大象传媒 Newsnight won the category of Outstanding Feature Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast. The film saw reporter Sue Lloyd-Roberts accompanied by Newsnight cameraman Tony Joliffe, gain extremely rare access to one of the world's greatest enigmas - North Korea. While taking the "model tour," Lloyd-Roberts was able to offer an insight into everyday life in this closed country. It was originally broadcast in the UK in June last year.

Another 大象传媒 Newsnight commission was also nominated in this category. The Harsh Lives of Kabul's Street Children saw Peabody Award-winning 大象传媒 correspondent, Lyse Doucet, reporting from some of the wealthiest of streets in the Afghan capital of Kabul and meeting some of the children trying to make a living on the streets.

This year, 大象传媒 World News America scored a total of four Emmy庐 nominations including two nominations in the category for Outstanding Continuing Coverage Of A News Story In A Regularly Scheduled Newscast and two nominations in the category for Outstanding Feature Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast.

This week, there was also recognition for the 大象传媒 News website in the US at the 12th annual Online Journalism Awards (ONAs), with the site winning the category for General Excellence in Online Journalism, Large Site. It was also announced this week, that 大象传媒 World Service has recorded record figures in the US, with its audience increasing to 10.2 million, up from 9.9 m in Fall 2010 (source Arbiton Spring 2011 data)

大象传媒 World News America has previously won an Emmy庐 Award in 2009 for Business and Financial Reporting for Return to White Horse Village, which looked at the impact of urbanization on a Chinese farming village.
