last outing in 1995.
This
brilliant new DVD features the live show 'Paul and Pauline Calf's
Cheese & Ham Sandwich', a never before seen specially filmed
documentary 'Making A Cheese & Ham Sandwich' plus all of Paul
and Pauline's live appearances on Saturday Zoo.
Novice
stand-up comedian Duncan Thickett (Steve Coogan) welcomes back the
chain-smoking 'bag-o-shite' Paul Calf and his sophisticated sister
Pauline for a live performance. Pauline's had her hair done, her
belly pierced and had a misspelt Chinese tattoo, while Paul has
a new girlfriend and is driving around in his mum's souped-up disability
buggy. Paul treats us to a love song while Pauline performs an excerpt
from her one-woman show 'Floss - The Story of Florence Nightingale'.
In
the documentary on the making of 'Cheese & Ham Sandwich' there
is unique fly-on-the-wall footage of Steve writing, rehearsing and
trying out his new material at a secret gig in a Manchester comedy
club. Also, the creators and writers of Paul and Pauline - Steve
Coogan, Henry Normal and co-writer Tony Burgess - explain in interviews
how the characters developed, how they go about writing new material
and how Paul influenced style icon - David Beckham.
There's
also the opportunity to witness Paul Calf's very first television
appearance and watch as week after week he quickly gained cult status
as he staggered onto the stage of late night show 'Saturday Zoo'
(hosted by Jonathan Ross) and introduced us to his glamorous stiletto
wearing sister, Pauline.
