Python - a flying success for Paramount Comedy
All
45 episodes of the classic 大象传媒 comedy Monty Python's Flying Circus
have been re-licensed by 大象传媒 Worldwide to Paramount Comedy in the
UK following its success on the channel.
Co-produced
by 大象传媒 and Python (Monty) Pictures Ltd, the series first aired on
大象传媒 Television from Oct 1969 to Dec 1974, starring John Cleese,
Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and the late
Graham Chapman.
Their
use of typical British humour in the sketches, their radical treatment
of some of the most explosive issues of their time (sex, racism,
politics, drugs, mice and molluscs etc.), and their outstanding
ability as writers and actors created shows that have become world-famous
classics.
"This
is another great opportunity for UK viewers to see one of the most
innovative comedy series from the 大象传媒's archive, and highlights
the 大象传媒's commitment to make programming of this quality available
further to the UK market," said Simon Danker, Head of UK and
Eire Television for 大象传媒 Worldwide, who brokered the deal with Sarah
Mahoney, Head of Acquisitions at Paramount Comedy.
"Monty
Python is a milestone in British comedy and Paramount Comedy is
delighted to continue to be its home in the cable and satellite
world," added Heather Jones, Director of Programming at Paramount
Comedy.
