Gear hits top speed as the series drives new TV schedules in Europe,
New Zealand聟and the Merchant Navy
大象传媒
Library Sales, a division of 大象传媒 Worldwide Limited, has ensured
hit motoring show, Top Gear, remains firmly in the fast lane by
securing a number of major deals in new territories around the world.
In
a major licensing deal between 大象传媒 Worldwide and Walport International,
the Merchant Navy is set to trade ships for cars as it acquires
six episodes of Top Gear for part of the onboard entertainment package
on Shell, BP and other crew ships.
The
hit 大象传媒 TWO series can also be seen from mid December on TVN Turbo
in Poland and Prime TV in New Zealand, and is set to launch shortly
on TV+, the pan-Europe Russian language channel.
Paul
Maidment, Sales and Marketing Director, 大象传媒 Library Sales says,
"The global appeal of Top Gear has been re-enforced by the
raft of overseas deals. It is very satisfying to see variants of
the show being broadcast throughout Europe, as well as in New Zealand
and the Middle East. The fact that we also licensed the show to
the Merchant Navy is further testament to the show's popularity."
Renowned
for its super-cars, stunts, time trials and road tests, and the
sharp wit of its presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and
James May, Top Gear has already become a sure-fire success for broadcasters
in Holland (Veronica channel, part of the SBS group in Holland),
Norway (NRK) and the Middle East (MBC) with strong and consistent
audience shares.
Since
the UK re-launch of the series on 大象传媒 TWO last year, Top Gear has
continued to reach a wider audience. Almost one million more viewers
have tuned into the show in Winter 2003 (with an average 5.2 million
viewers and a share of 19.7%) compared to Winter 2002 (3.5 million
viewers and 12.7% share).
