Dwarf IV - The Chaos continues on DVD in February
大象传媒
Worldwide are proud to announce the release of Red Dwarf IV
for the first time on DVD on February 16th 2004.
Starring
Chris Barrie and Craig Charles as duelling bunkmates Rimmer and
Lister stranded together in deep space, Red Dwarf IV also
welcomed the return of co-stars Danny John-Jules (Cat), Robert Llewellyn
(Kryten) and Hattie Hayridge (Holly) to join them on their adventures.
In
its eight-series history, Red Dwarf won numerous awards including
the Royal Television Society Award for special effects, the British
Science Fiction award for Best Dramatic Presentation, as well as
an International Emmy.
Red
Dwarf IV also gave writer-creators Rob Grant and Doug Naylor
the chance to have fun at the movies, by introducing a galaxy of
subtle film references from their favourite films, for sharp-eyed
fans to spot.
Red
Dwarf at The Movies
Whilst earlier series had included nods to sci-fi classics such
as Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey, Series IV took
things to a new level.
Watch
out for Casablanca spoof episode Camille, the Jaws
homage at the monster-killing climax of DNA (not to mention
Lister's Robocop-melding outfit), a distinctly Terminator
feel to Justice's final茅, and Vietnam movie overload
in the Full Metal Jacket inspired episode Meltdown.
Red
Dwarf IV also introduced some brand new characters and situations,
including the 'alternate' Rimmer, known simply as Ace. Dashing,
popular, handsome and heroic, he's everything the original Rimmer
is not, with more than a passing resemblance to Tom Cruise as he
appeared in Top Gun!
But
There's Smegloads More!
All
six half-hour episodes of Red Dwarf IV appear in their 1991 original,
non-remastered form. In collaboration with Grant Naylor Productions,
this 大象传媒 Worldwide release will also be accompanied by over three
hours of bonus material designed to satisfy die-hard fans as well
as attract newcomers.
All
five main cast were gathered together for their fourth full-length
commentary, and all key cast and crew members also contributed to
the in-depth, 75-minute documentary Built To Last.
As
well as a 12-page collector's booklet, the bonus material extends
even further to include:

Red
Dwarf IV Episode Guide Camille
- Kryten, Red Dwarf's on board mechanoid, rescues a female droid
- Camille - from a crashed vessel. She's a 4000 series just like
him, only a Gti model with realistic toes and a slide-back sunroof
head. Kryten finds himself falling in advanced mutual compatibility
on the basis of a primary ident (what humans call "love at
first sight") only to find that true advanced mutual compatibility
never runs in a non-glitch, bug-free way.
DNA
- The crew lock on to an unidentified craft containing the ultimate
genetic engineering technology - a machine that can transform any
living thing into any other living thing, by re-writing its DNA.
A blessing or a curse?
Justice
- Innate justice does not exist anywhere in the known universe except,
that is, for Justice World, an abandoned penal colony equipped with
a "justice field" which inflicts the consequences of a
crime on its perpetrator. The innocent have nothing to fear. Rimmer
is in big trouble.
White
Hole - Holly regains her genius level IQ and for reasons best
known to herself powers down the ship, leaving the crew drifting
helplessly towards a White Hole. Will Rimmer sacrifice his hologramatic
life to save the rest of the crew?
Dimension
Jump - In a universe almost identical to our own, an alternate
Arnold Rimmer exists. A test pilot in the Space Corps, he is charming,
popular, brave and modest. After his test craft breaks the speed
of reality, he finds himself face to face with his counterpart aboard
Red Dwarf.
Meltdown
- A matter transporter whisks the crew to Waxworld - a giant theme
park, where the waxdroids have broken their programming, and are
running amok. Hitler, Caligula and the Boston Strangler lead an
army of darkness against the forces of Elvis, Gandhi and Stan Laurel.
The
Red Dwarf Phenomenon
-
Red Dwarf still holds the record for being 大象传媒 2's longest running,
highest rated sitcom
- Created
by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, it was based on one of their radio
shows: Dave Hollins - Space Cadet
- The
programme was first shown in February 1988 and continued over
the next decade with 8 series, building up a massive worldwide
cult following and at its peak topping 8 million viewers
- Sales
of the video are in excess of 2.3 million and the series has been
shown across the globe to award-winning success
- Combined
DVD sales for Series I, II and III are now in excess of a staggering
400,000! International sales have been equally impressive in America
and Australia, where the shows have dedicated fanbases and a strong
public following.
