大象传媒 opens up Motion Gallery to thousands of academics and students in the UK



Partnership with JISC Collections creates customised online video library for further and higher education

大象传媒 Worldwide today announces that staff and students in colleges and universities in the UK can now access a wide selection of professional video content for use within an educational environment.

The service is part of a new partnership between , the archive sales arm of 大象传媒 Worldwide, and JISC Collections, a publicly funded mutual trading company that supports UK research and education by negotiating with publishers and digital content providers, to provide students, teaching staff and researchers with access to a rich and diverse range of online content.

The clips are for use by students, teachers and researchers, and are accessible via .

The content is licensed for use only within an educational environment and can be applied to everything from student assignments, film projects and showreels to lecturer's 'lesson openers', and presentations in virtual learning environments.

Staff and students can access content by logging on using their institutional username and password.

At launch the site will host approximately 20,000 clips from the 大象传媒 content collection.

The diverse library includes news clips of key political moments such as the Commonwealth prime ministers' meeting at Downing Street in 1948 and even George W Bush making a mistake in his speech at the White House in 2007 and turning to wink at Queen Elizabeth II.

The footage also includes a selection of the 大象传媒's acclaimed natural history content as well as videos giving cultural insights from around the world.

Paul Maidment, Business Development Director, 大象传媒 Motion Gallery said: "We hope that students and lecturers alike will benefit from easy and quick access to a diverse selection of 大象传媒 content within a secure environment supported by JISC."

Liam Earney, Collections Team Manager, JISC Collections added: "We are always looking for facilities that will enhance the learning environment and are confident that giving access to such an array of unique and visually stimulating video content will help bring to life any assignment or lesson."

Murray Weston, Chief Executive, British Universities Film & Video Council said: "The site was successfully trialled earlier this year with a selection of top UK institutions and feedback indicates the site provides 鈥渦niquely relevant content."

It is a release which moves us one more step towards the pervasive use of moving image for learning and research."
