The latest EMS Middle East survey, which looks at media consumption in the top 13% of affluent households in the region, has shown that the international ´óÏó´«Ã½ website was the largest international broadcast news website within this audience group.
The international version of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ website outside the UK provides comprehensive news, sport, weather, technology and lifestyle content. The site now attracts visits from over 74,000 affluent users each month in the Middle East, which is 20% higher than its closest competitor, and 4% of the region’s affluent population.
In addition, ´óÏó´«Ã½ World News, the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s 24-hour international news and information channel has come first amongst other international English-speaking channels in the Gulf region. In the Gulf, ´óÏó´«Ã½ World News has achieved a weekly reach of 17% and an audience number of over 273,000 per month. In the Middle East as a whole, ´óÏó´«Ã½ World News and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Arabic have together increased their audience figure by 200,000 since the last survey in 2006.
Jeremy Nye, Head of Audience Insights for the Global News division at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ said, "It is hugely encouraging to see that our television and online news presence in the Middle East continues to grow from strength to strength, with people turning to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ as a trusted source for world events. The survey suggests that we are successfully reaching our target audiences ahead of our competitors and we hope that we can continue to deepen this relationship in the future."
The EMS Middle East survey covers 13 cities in 8 countries in the region and is the survey that looks at demographics, lifestyles and tri-media consumption (online, print and TV)of upscale audiences.
