Alan Tyler is Executive Editor, Entertainment Commissioning. He was appointed to the role in April 2009.
He is responsible for a range of entertainment programming across all four channels, from outside of London. This includes all lottery output as well as primetime entertainment shows such as Hole In the Wall.
Prior to that Alan was Head of Comedy and Entertainment at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland. He was responsible for a slate which included T In The Park, The Old Guys, Life Of Riley, The National Lottery: This Time Tomorrow, Comedy Connections, The Eurovision Dance Contest and How Not To Live Your Life.
Educated at St Andrews University, Alan began work with Granada as a development producer before stints with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ in London and Manchester.
He founded the format house Ideas Unlimited to provide formats to UK and international markets with credits including Beat The Streets and The Heist.
Alan was Development Executive for Comedy and Entertainment at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland between January 2003 and April 2004 with credits including The Last Laugh (´óÏó´«Ã½ Three), The Interrogators (´óÏó´«Ã½ Three) and The Secret Map Of Hollywood (´óÏó´«Ã½ One).
From April 2004 to October 2005, Alan was Head of Mentorn Scotland where he was responsible for the overall management and strategic planning for both Mentorn Scotland and Mentorn Entertainment. Credits included The Last Word with Nicky Campbell (´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland), the Tsunami Millennium Concert Live (Channel 5) and The Curse Of The Omen (Channel 4).
