TV Sport

Provides coverage of some of the biggest events shown on British TV, including the Football World Cup, Wimbledon, the Six Nations, the Grand National, the Open and a host of World Championships.

Also delivers Sports Personality Of The Year, and the country's most popular football programming centred on Premier League highlights in Match Of The Day, and now about to take in live games and highlights from the Football League.

Output often attracts very substantial audiences, and has been at the forefront of new media initiatives, including the ´óÏó´«Ã½ HD channel.

Major Events

The team most recently organised the successful pan-´óÏó´«Ã½ coverage of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics on all platforms.

Currently the focus is on the Vancouver Winter Olympics in February 2010, and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October 2010, subject to contract, and of course London 2012 – the biggest planned event in the UK in our lifetimes and the biggest challenge ever to face ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport.

Interactive

The digital arm of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport, which employs an editorial team working across a range of new media platforms.

This includes bbc.co.uk/sport (the biggest sports website in Europe), award-winning interactive TV services on the red button, and a growing mobile service.

The Sport website reaches around 12 million unique users every week, with video streaming for big events like Wimbledon and the Olympics proving particularly popular.

Radio Sport

Supplies around 4,300 hours of output on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live Sports Extra each year. This includes 5 Live Sport seven days a week, and half-hourly sport bulletins 24/7.

Premier League football and Test Match Special are the main focus on the two stations.

On Saturday afternoon 5 Live Sport reaches 2.55 million listeners and has a share of 11.7%.

Also provides sports bulletins on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 (Chris Moyles and Newsbeat), ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 2 (Chris Evans), and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 4 (Today programme), plus 1,200 hours of output per annum on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service, including 14 Sports Roundup bulletins per day, and a daily script and audio bulletin service to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Local Radio stations.

Sports News

The Sports newsroom looks after all the sports news journalism for ´óÏó´«Ã½ News, 5 Live, the World Service and ´óÏó´«Ã½ World News.

Additionally, the area supplies video and audio sports news content, including bulletins for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport Interactive.

The team has a close working relationship with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Nations & Regions who both supply and receive content from the London Sports newsroom.

The area is made up of separate production teams for the relevant output areas across TV and radio, as well as having a tri-media (TV, radio and online) Sportsgathering unit.
