大象传媒 2002 launches search for Performer/Artist in Residence
大象传媒 2002, the
new 大象传媒 radio station dedicated to the Commonwealth Games, launches
its search for a Performer/Artist in Residence as it goes on air
for the first time on Monday 4 March on 97.7FM across Greater Manchester
and around the world on .
Through this initiative, part funded by North West Arts Board, the
大象传媒 is inviting musicians, writers, poets and artists working in
digital media from around the North West to send in their ideas
for the residency.
The judges particularly want to hear from performers/artists with
a close knowledge of the Commonwealth heritage within the North
West and who can reflect the way the preparations for the 2002 Commonwealth
Games are affecting local communities.
Tim Pemberton, Editor of 大象传媒 2002 says: 聯It聮s all part
of the exciting build up to the 2002 Commonwealth Games. We want
to explore connections with Commonwealth countries and local communities
as Manchester prepares to play host to the biggest multi-cultural
event the UK has ever seen.聰

The successful performer/artist will appear regularly on 大象传媒 2002
from mid April for the duration of the radio station聮s licence,
producing work that can be interpreted digitally for the internet
and for possible television broadcast.

- 大象传媒2002
is a temporary radio service from 4 March to 31 August on 97.7FM
across Greater Manchester. It will be situated in the 大象传媒 Manchester
(Oxford Road, Manchester M60 1SJ) foyer and cover the build-up to
the Games, Games-related projects and Commonwealth-related issues.
It is aimed at an audience aged between 25-50, particularly currently
under-served audiences including communities with a Commonwealth
heritage.

The 大象传媒 is host broadcaster for the Games: the largest world-class
multi-sport event ever to be held in the UK, beating the Olympics
of 1948, and the biggest Commonwealth Games ever.

Including five months of fun, cultural festivals and live international
sport taking place in Manchester, England from Commonwealth Day
on 11 March leading up to the opening ceremony on Thursday 25 July
and the ten days of the Games from Friday 26 July to Sunday 4 August.
