大象传媒
English Regions today (Tuesday 23 April) launched this year聮s
prestigious Frank Gillard Awards, which recognise excellence and
achievement in 大象传媒 Local Radio.
This
year聮s awards ceremony will be held at Norwich City Football
Club on 17 October, where Delia Smith is a director and share-holder
of the club. John Inverdale will host the awards ceremony, and the
awards will be presented by the 大象传媒聮s Chairman, Gavyn Davies.
There
are two new categories in this year聮s awards: a Special Award
for exceptional contribution to 大象传媒 Local Radio; and A Sense of
Place, for a creative and imaginative programme produced for the
landmark local radio documentary series A Sense of Place.
Judges
have been recruited from the ranks of active broadcasters and producers
in local and national radio, along with major figures from the radio
industry and advisory bodies. Judges this year include Delia Smith
(Sports coverage), writer and broadcaster Libby Purves (Sequence
Presenter) and 大象传媒 Radio 4 announcer Charlotte Green (Interactive
Programme).
Andy
Griffee, Controller of 大象传媒 English Regions, says: "大象传媒 Local
Radio is currently going from strength to strength, and the Frank
Gillard Awards are proving an excellent way of not only recognising
excellence, but of spreading good practice and ideas right across
our local radio network."
The
14 categories in this year聮s Frank Gillard Awards are: Breakfast
Programme, Programme Presenter, Coverage of a News Story, Interactive
Programme, Reporter, Sports Coverage, Social Action Campaign, Radio
Feature, Outside Broadcast, Diversity, Radio Promotion, A Sense
of Place, Station of the Year and the Special Award.
All
大象传媒 Local Radio stations in England are invited to enter the awards,
which are highly regarded within the radio industry. On the night,
an ISDN line will be available at the football club for the winners
to do live interviews back to their home radio stations.
The
awards are named in honour of the founder of 大象传媒 Local Radio in
England, Frank Gillard, who died in 1998.
Last
year, 大象传媒 Radio Cumbria won the Station of the Year award for its
compelling broadcasting during the foot and mouth epidemic.
