大象传媒 serves up three Aces at Wimbledon

Two new signings - Chris Evert to 大象传媒 TV and Brad Gilbert to 大象传媒 Radio Five Live - plus a virtual courtside seat through 大象传媒i, provide tennis fans with a complete 大象传媒 Wimbledon experience, as the Championships begin on Monday 24 June 2002.

One of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport has joined 大象传媒 television for Wimbledon 2002. Chris Evert - who won three Wimbledon singles titles - will commentate on the women's game and be a studio guest with Sue Barker and John Inverdale.

Chris won 157 singles titles and reached the semi finals or better of every Grand Slam she entered from 1971 to 1983. Chris was number one in the world from 1975 to 1981 and in 1985. From 1972 to 1989 she was never ranked lower than number four.

Chris Evert completes a star-studded line up that includes John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Pat Cash, John Lloyd, Andrew Castle, Pam Shriver, Virginia Wade, Ann Jones, Jo Durie, Annabel Croft and Sam Smith.

Chris Evert said: "I'm delighted to be working for the 大象传媒 at Wimbledon.

"People all over the world see the comprehensive, high quality coverage that the 大象传媒 provides, and I'm looking forward to being part of that this year.

"Wimbledon is such a fantastic and unique tournament and I'll be aiming to bring some of my experiences there into my analysis.

"It's going to be good fun working alongside some of the other former players, many of whom I regard as friends after touring the circuit together for so many years."

Dave Gordon, 大象传媒 Head of Major Events, said: "Signing Chris is terrific news for the 大象传媒. She is one of the sport's greats, loved by tennis fans around the world and respected throughout the sport. We're really looking forward to working with her."

大象传媒 Radio Five Live has added another winner to its tennis arsenal, with new signing Brad Gilbert enhancing the current line-up.

Clare Balding fronts Five Live's coverage each afternoon throughout the tournament, and tennis correspondent Iain Carter is joined by an expert commentary team.

Brad Gilbert, Andre Agassi's ex-coach, tennis mentor, and former professional player, will be part of Five Live's line-up of skilful summarisers and reporters, ensuring listeners know what's happening, as it happens, out on the courts.

All in all Five Live's Wimbledon team will bring unrivalled and exclusive radio coverage direct to its audience of 6.4 million live sport and news fans.

Radio Five Live's sister service Radio Five Live Sports Extra will help to ensure that listeners can hear all the action, with an additional commentary each day to supplement the coverage on Radio Five Live.

Listeners can access the service through DAB digital radio sets, digital satellite television (currently in five million British homes, number 907 on Sky EPG) and via the internet - .

Completing the hat-trick of Wimbledon aces, digital TV viewers watching the coverage through 大象传媒i can now choose the action they want to watch from a selection of SW19 courts, no matter how they get their digital signal.

A huge success when it was offered for the first time across digital satellite last year, 大象传媒i has now extended the Multistream service to digital terrestrial and digital cable viewers with Telewest and Kingston Communications, providing them with a virtual courtside seat and the chance to jump from one match to the next using a range of 大象传媒 Sport feeds from SW19.

And if you're at home or stuck at the office, a click of the mouse is all it takes to get all the latest results, reports, reaction, comment audio and video from the Championships through 大象传媒i at .
