Drama Sinners Scoops Five Magnolia Awards at The Shanghai TV Festival
大象传媒 Northern Ireland Drama scores again
Sinners, the powerful 大象传媒 ONE drama, cleaned up at this year's Magnolia
Awards at the Shanghai TV Festival (14 June 14 2002), beating off
competition from thirteen other international films to win Best
TV Drama.
Writer Lizzie Mickery (Messiah - Vengeance is Mine, Messiah, The
Beggar Bride, The Ice House) received the award for Best Screenplay,
Aisling Walsh (Forgive and Forget, The Governess, Joyriders) picked
up the award for Best Director and Anne-Marie Duff (Amongst Women,
Trial and Retribution, Enigma and Aristocrats) won the Magnolia
for Best Actress.
Sinners also picked up the Magnolia for Best Technology, making
it this year's biggest winner.
Also starring Tina Kellegher, Bronagh Gallagher, Ger Ryan, Ruth
McCabe and John Kavanagh, Sinners is a fictional story set against
the real background of the Magdalen Laundries in Ireland in the
1960's.
The 大象传媒 Northern Ireland/Parallel Films Production was produced
by Alan Moloney (Amongst Women, Beckett on Film C4, A Love Divided).
Executive producers are Robert Cooper (Amongst Women, As the Beast
Sleeps, Rebel Heart) and Kate Triggs (Amongst Women, Any Time Now,
Eureka Street).
The annual Shanghai TV Festival is designed to encourage better
mutual understanding, strengthen friendship among people from different
countries and regions and stimulate the development of the television
industry.
