Burn
It
"A
finger to the world is your God given right so don't let the side
down and don't ever, ever wash your car - and if all else fails,
just burn it."
Red
Production Company has gone into production with Burn It,
a brand new fast, funny and original drama for 大象传媒 Choice starring
six fresh, young, talented actors.
Set
in Manchester, Burn It rips into the lives of three men who thought
they were still boys - no wives, no babies and no responsibilities.
Carl, Jon and Andy have been mates forever.
They
are Generation X - hardened party animals but their party train
is grinding to a halt. Andy is getting married. They never thought
it would come to this.
They
have spent 10 years running away from responsibility but now they've
reached 30 it has suddenly hit them between the eyes.
Reluctantly
they take a long, hard look at their lives and find themselves straying
into the "dark side" - opening up to their feelings, emotions
and to other people.
Suddenly
the previously taboo words, love, relationship and responsibility
can make them happy. Bit by bit the balance of their friendship
shifts and together the boys struggle with the aftershock of their
life-changing decisions.
Burn
It stars Kieran O'Brien (Hearts & Bones, Band Of Brothers) as
postman Andy, not very good with girls or drinking. He lives with
his first serious girlfriend Emma played by Lisa Faulkner (Spooks).
Melanie
Brown (The Vagina Monologues) is Claire, Emma's best friend and
fellow nurse; Chris Coghill (24 Hour Party People) is Carl, the
leader of the pack, a builder by trade but a professional when it
comes to womanising; William Ash (Clocking Off) plays Jon, a pretty
boy with a sensitive side, he's coming to terms with losing contact
with the daughter he had when he was a teenager and Marsha Thomason
(Playing The Field) plays Tina, Jon's former girlfriend and mother
of their child.
Nicola
Shindler, Red Production Company, says: "Burn It is young and
fast. We're very excited about the excellent casting and the edgy
and urban storylines.
"The
dramas we produce are innovative, bold and sexy and Burn It certainly
falls into all these categories."
Stuart
Murphy, Controller of 大象传媒 Choice, says: "This is an important
commission for 大象传媒 Choice and one we are very excited about.
"The
channel is all about developing new talent in front of and behind
the screen, so it makes sense to commission this first major drama
by new writer Matt Greenhalgh.
"Burn
It has a cracking cast from a company with an excellent pedigree
and promises to be smart and gutsy - just the type of drama we think
our late 20's audience will love."
Burn
It is written by Matt Greenhalgh (Clocking Off), produced by Tom
Sherry (Murphy's Law) and directed by Sheree Folkson and Ed Fraiman.
Executive
Producers are Nicola Shindler for Red Production Company and Mike
Dormer for 大象传媒 Television. Burn It has been commissioned by Stuart
Murphy for 大象传媒 CHOICE.
