celebrates Science Year on the road
The
popular science programme Tomorrow's World is to tour the country
for the very first time.
The
roadshow in celebration of Science Year will showcase the latest
discoveries and inventions direct to school children,
students and families.
The
four shows take place during July and will visit Birmingham (3 to
6 July), London (10 to 13 July), Cardiff (17 to 20 July) and Glasgow
(24 to 27 July).
Tina
Fletcher, Executive Producer, Tomorrow's World programme, says:
"This
is a new initiative undertaken by the Tomorrow's World programme
to bring science and technology to a vast audience and give school
children and families the opportunity to experience new gadgets,
inventions, entertainment and educational technologies at first
hand.
"It's
a fantastically interactive event showcasing the most exciting and
inspiring exhibits."
The
events are staged by 大象传媒 ONE's Tomorrow's World programme, which
will broadcast live from each show on Wednesday evenings.
The
themed zones within the roadshow will give visitors the opportunity
to experience science, technology and innovations first hand.
The
zones include -
搂
Tomorrow's World Zone
An interactive zone where visitors can experience the latest in
Television technology with 大象传媒 Hawkeye 3D glasses. Visitors can
try their hand at presenting within the Presenter Booth and view
the programme content both past and present.
搂
Think Energy Zone
Britain's biggest "energy" educational initiative. Visitors
will learn about energy saving initiatives as they tour around the
exhibits in the Think Energy Zone. The tour leads the visitor to
the ideas generator room where they can be inspired to create their
own ideas for saving energy. Also within the zone is the Think Energy
Bike where visitors can attempt at powering normal light bulbs through
leg power.
搂
Science Year Zone
Computer terminals illustrate the Science Year web site and their
achievements throughout the year. The daily Science Shows will feature
Ready Steady Science (science experiment challenge) and Kitchen
Science (science experiments that visitors can conduct at home).
搂
Inventors Zone
Headed by the Trevor Baylis Foundation the zone features dozens
of companies showcasing new inventions. Consultants will be on hand
to give intellectual property advice to student inventors.
搂 Health Zone
Enter the future where cancer has been cured and meet a robot called
"SIR". A pop band will be performing live each day to
illustrate the six key messages of Cancer Research UK.
搂
Sports Zone
An interactive zone where visitors undergo a series of tests and
measurements and the results are evaluated. This area is designed
to encourage children to participate in sports, using new technology
to match individual profiles with different sport disciplines.
搂
Live Lab Stage
A whole host of interactive displays and experiments including an
entertaining stage show introducing forensic science.
