Denise
Lewis takes part in the Commonwealth Games on the 大象传媒
Olympic
Gold Medallist Denise Lewis joins the 大象传媒 Sport television team
to present the 大象传媒's preview programme on the eve of the XVII Commonwealth
Games, Denise Lewis' Commonwealth Countdown (24 July, 大象传媒
ONE, 10.45-11.45pm).
This
is the only opportunity for viewers to see Denise in Manchester
as she takes a break from her athletic career following the birth
of her daughter.
She
has vowed to be back to full fitness in time to compete at the World
Championships in 2003 and defend her Olympic title in Athens in
2004.
So
catch her while you can!
Dave
Gordon, 大象传媒 Sport Head of Major Events and Executive Editor, Commonwealth
Games, said: "Denise is one of Britain's most charismatic sports
stars and the 大象传媒 is very pleased that she's presenting this key
programme in the 大象传媒's build up to the Commonwealth Games."
The
29-year-old, who won over British hearts and became the darling
of the Sydney Olympics with her superhuman performance in the heptathalon,
says of joining the 大象传媒 team: "Whilst I'd rather be on the
track defending my title, I am so delighted to have the opportunity
to play a part in the Games through the 大象传媒's coverage.
"I
have been involved with M2002 for over a year now and have no doubt
that we will be hosting a magnificent event - the 大象传媒 will play
a key role in bringing the spirit of Manchester into the Nation's
homes and I am excited about being part of the team."
Also
joining the 大象传媒 Sport television team is Michael Johnson,
the most consistent and versatile sprinter to have ever sprinted.
Following
his insightful and widely acclaimed contribution to 大象传媒 Television's
coverage of the World Championships last year, Johnson rejoins the
team as an analyst, within Commonwealth Games Grandstand.
Johnson,
dubbed "Superman", remains the only man to have won both
the 200 and 400 metres at the World Championships and the Olympics,
and is still the fastest man in the world being the only man to
have gone under 44 seconds over 400 metres.
Of
rejoining the 大象传媒 Television team Johnson said: "To be a part
of the Commonwealth Games with the world-renowned 大象传媒 Sport team
is incredible.
"I
know the thrill of major competition only too well and I'll be looking
to bring my personal insight to bear on the performance of the athletes
competing at these Games, and the Europeans."
Dave
Gordon said: "Michael undoubtedly brings a unique perspective
to the coverage and we're looking forward to having someone of his
stature working with us again."
